چکیده

The present work manifests the results of the dynamic Young's modulus, E, after cold compaction and after sintering of partially dense copper and silver compacts. For both metals, the results show that E in the porous compacts depends not only on the attained density, but also on the samples' consolidation route. For porous metals, it is demonstrated that the normalized longitudinal sound wave velocity, VL*, is more appropriate than porosity, for quantitative nondestructive evaluation (NDE) of the normalized Young's modulus, E*. The proposed model uses, VL*, to evaluate: E* ≅ [αVL*+(1−α)VL*]C(ν), where α is a constant defined from the compaction behavior, and C(ν), is a function of the Poisson’s ratio, ν. This model was further verified for the normalized Young's modulus of porous nickel compacts.

Analytical Solutions of the FG Thick Plates with In-Plane Stiffness Variation and Porous Substances Using Higher Order Shear Deformation Theory

This paper presents the governing equations on the rectangular plate with the variation of material stiffness through their thick using higher order shear deformation theory (HSDT). The governing equations are obtained by using Hamilton's principle with regard to variation of Young's modulus in through their thick with regard sinusoidal variation of the displacement field across the thickness. ...

Unveiling the environment-dependent mechanical properties of porous polypropylene separators

Porous polypropylene (PP) is commonly used as separator materials for lithium ion batteries (LIB). Its mechanical properties, especially critical for abuse tolerance and durability of LIB, are subject to change in different environments. To capture the mechanical responses of a porous PP separator, its microstructure was mapped into separate atomistic models of bulk crystalline phases and orien...

Mechanical properties of sintered meso-porous silicon: a numerical model

: Because of its optical and electrical properties, large surfaces, and compatibility with standard silicon processes, porous silicon is a very interesting material in photovoltaic and microelectromechanical systems technology. In some applications, porous silicon is annealed at high temperature and, consequently, the cylindrical pores that are generated by anodization or stain etching reorgani...

A Study of Accuracy in an Intelligent V-Bending Process for Sheet Metals-Change in Young's Modulus due to Plastic Deformation and Its Effect on Springback-

An intelligent V-bending process developed by the authors is briefly described and the importance of change in Young's modulus due to plastic deformation, which influences the amount of springback and therefore the accuracy, is emphasized. The change in Young's modulus in simple tension of a cold rolled steel sheet is experimentally investigated by affixing strain gauges on the specimen. It is ...

Rheological Behaviour and Model for Porous Rocks Under Air-Dried and Water-Saturated Conditions

Most rocks exhibit viscoelastic properties or time-dependent behavior during deformation. For example, peak strength and Young's modulus increase with loading rate in uniaxial compression tests. In the creep test, strain increases over time even though stress is maintained at a predetermined value. Such viscoelastic behavior is especially notable in porous rocks such as tuff and weathered rocks...
